In August 2025, My family made a trip to the Bay area, and visited California's Great America, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, and San Fransisco. Six Flags Discovery Kingdom was the second part of our trip, and we spent one day, on August 7th, 2025, at the park.
We got to the park at open, and went right to Superman. The logic being it having low capacity it would get a long line. We walked right on the ride. Following, we rode Batman: The Ride, and proceeded to question our choices on riding an S&S Free Spin. After, we waited 20 minutes or so for Joker, which would actually be the longest we waited for a ride the entire day. We would leave the DC Universe section of the park, as Flash: Vertical Velocity was down.
Following the DC section, we went and rode Medusa. Being a B&M floorless, it was really fun and smooth. Comparing it to Patriot, which we rode the previous day, is night and day difference. Following we rode Kong, my least favorite ride on the trip. It's an SLC, and it just isn't good. My brother and I rode Cobra after, and we thought it was a fun littke family coaster.
We ate lunch, having the Chicken Tender/Fish and Chips combo. It was good, and the garlic was tasty on the fries. We than went and watched the Dolphin Show, and it was very enjoyable. I was informed after by my friend Alexis that Six Flags Discovery Kingdom was rated as a humane facility, and that was surprising to both of us. The Dolphins looked very happy and they were very entertaining.
Following we rode Sidewinder Safari and Boomerang. We found that Sidewinder was fun, but Boomerang was the second worst coaster of our trip. My mom thought how funny it was that Vekoma, who built Kong and Boomerang, also built Siren's Curse. We than decided to head over to the seal show, but we saw the holy grail. For context, Flash was down the entire day, and was the last ride we needed to ride. While walking over, we saw Flash cycling with riders. We ran over to Flash: Vertical Velocity and bought 2 One Shot Flash Passes to ride it. Flash is the best Intamin Impulse coaster I've ridden, and it's inverting spike is super unique. It was the right choice, as while we did miss the only seal show of the day, we got to ride Flash, which was a nice thing because before our visit it had been down for over a year.
I've covered the rides pretty well in the report, so I'll give simple rankings for the park below
1: The Flash: Vertical Velocity
2: Superman: Ultimate Flight
3: Joker
4: Medusa
5: Sidewinder Safari
6: Cobra
7: Kong
8: Boomerang: Coast to Coaster
9: Batman: The Ride
The park was actually really nice, and I actually found that I liked Six Flags Discovery Kingdom more than California's Great America, and it confused me why it was less crowded and had less hours than CGA. While overall I have been told the food needs improvement (we got lucky) the merch department needs to work on improving the selection, because there wasn't anything that mentioned "Discovery Kingdom", only "Six Flags". I Thought it was a good park overall.
