Walking up to our first ride of the day was ThuNderaTion, the Alan Schilke designed Arrow mine train. This ride is the whole reason we wanted to visit SDC, since it was closing for good on January 2nd, 2027. It was really fun, and if you want a comparison, its like Adventure Express at Kings Island, but without the first lift.
This ride was also Luke's 250th credit. I think he made a good choice for a credit. After our ride, we made ourway next door to ride Time Traveler.
After a solid aftenoon at Six Flags St. Louis, we would travel into Ozarks to see its many sights and sounds, most importantly Siver Dollar City. None of us had ever been to Silver Dollar City, and we were very excited to see such a highly praised park and ride some legendary coasters.
Silver Dollar City Day One
July 14th, 2026
Waking up Tuesday morning, we made our way further west to reach Silver Dollar City. The drive was 3 hours long, but we made it by 11:30am with a stop for breakfast. The nice thing about Silver Dollar City is that general parking is free, which is something we took advantage of.
Time Traveler would be the longest wait of the entire trip, at about 50 minutes. This Mack Xtreme Spinner was the first of its kind, and I was very excited to ride it finally.
Oh my god experincing this was life changing. The spinning means you do the elements in different positions, and it is absolutely trippy. I am not joking when I say that this ride made me more excited for Project Purple at SFGADv.
Fire In The Hole was the next ride. This RMC dark ride coaster was very fun, charming, but felt too fast at times. We then walked over to ride Powder Keg, which was my first S&S Air Launch/Premier Liquid Coaster. The launch? Great. The layout? Weird and janky. But it would become my second favorite ride at SDC.
Two laps on Wildfire followed after learning that Kumba was closing for good. Wildfire is really fun, and being a B&M sitdown made it rather unique as a coaster.
What followed next was what I considered the worst coaster of the park, Outlaw Run. For being an RMC, it ran poorly on its rails, and the pothole on the drop hurt my back. Its the second worst RMC I have ridden, with either Joker or Wildcat's revenge as the worst.
After the rides, a thunderstorm rolled in and caused a delay lasting 2 hours. We took the time to explore the park a bit. Once the weather cleared, we went ahead to got some rerides on Time Traveler, Powder Keg, ThuNderaTion, and Outlaw Run. Once the park closed for the night we went to our AirB&B, but not before stopping to ride Copperhead Mountain coaster, and the Buc-ee's in Springfield for a late dinner.
Silver Dollar City Day Two
July 15th, 2026
Waking up extra early for day two, we made our way back to SDC to rope drop Outlaw Run specifically, and for our day two. We had a few goals: Credit Completion, Cinnamon Bread, and Marvel Cave Tour.
Once we finally entered the park at 9am, we waited for the park to offically open. They open the front plaza early, and it was nice to take in the front entry plaza. We did get first train of the day on Outlaw Run, and the hangtime on the rolls were crazy.
After Outlaw Run, we got breakfast with Cinnamon Bread, before heading over to ride Grand Exposition Coaster to get credit completion. We also took the time to get a ride on Flooded Mine before heading to the Marvel Cave Tour.
The photos I took of Marvel Cave do not show the true beauty, nor scale, the cave holds. We waited about an hour to head down, and that wait was well worth it. We all were amazed, and Caroline and I agreed Perry's Cave at Put-In-Bay did not hold up. Sadly we got cut off due to lightning, and we did not get to see the full cave.
Once out of the cave, it was time to get some rides throughout the park. We happened to be by Time Traveler and ThuNderaTion, so we would start there. The lightning finally closed the surface rides, so we went and rode Fire In The Hole again. Once the rides reopened, Luke, Josh, and I rode Fire Fall, the S&S Double Shot.
The rest of the day was spent going between Wildfire, Powder Keg, and Time Traveler. In total, I would get 6 rides on Time Traveler, 4 on Wildfire, and 2 on Powderkeg. Each ride on these awesome coasters were shortly waited, and amazing experiences.
After some time getting some laps, Caroline and I took some time to ride both Barn Swing, the S&S Screamin' Swing, and the Train Ride, which was cute and I really enjoyed a lot.
Once it got dark, we all met up to get 1 more reride on 3 specific rides. A night ride on Outlaw Run, a night ride on Time Traveler, and LROTN on ThuNderaTion. Each night ride was awesome, and Outlaw Run has better night rides than The Beast at Kings Island.
Before leaving the park for the night, we took the time to check out the giftshops and get our merch. I bought a Cinnamon Bread plush and a ThuNderaTion metal picture. The shops were increadible, and I even spoke with their merch team to express how jealous I was of their shops presentation. Once we left, we went to the AirB&B to get rest.
Silver Dollar City is my favorite park I have been to. I wish I had time to check out the Live E, and seeing more of the fine details the park has to offer. We could have easily added another day to the park, and I wish we had time to do so. I cannot wait to revist in the future, the question for me is, when?
