Kings Dominion

March 30th-31st, 2026

I have had the privilege to visit Kings Dominion several times over the years, with the most recent trip happening during my Southern Thaw trip on March 30th and 31st, 2026. Kings Dominion was the last park I visited on my trip to the south. Having last visited this park last summer, and the park quickly making itself my favorite park in the Six Flags chain, I was very excited to return to Kings Dominion. I had one of, if not the most, successful days at a park I had ever had.

Taylor and I missed Pantherian, Kings Dominion's giga coaster when we visited in June 2025. Knowing the ride's tendency to eat wheels like candy, we would go there straight after opening, to guarentee atleast one ride on the giga coaster

While our first ride felt slow, our following 2 rides showed the teeth this kitty has. We would then go the Jungle X area, riding Tumbili, Reptilian, and Rapterra before lunch. Taylor was thrilled to get another ride on such a unique ride. Gavin loved Tumbili, although it was his first 4D freespin. I wish I got another ride on Rapterra, but we simply didn't have time.

After lunch and when the rain passed, we went to go ride Boo Blasters. I am not 100% sure, but it felt like the KD Boo Blasters was not as accurate as the Carowinds version, although I might have struggled with aiming.

Gavin was 2 coasters away from his 150th unique coaster, and to get there, we rode Racer 75 and Apple Zapple. Racer 75 needs some work, especially since it is original to KD. Apple Zapple is one of my favorite Wild Mouse coasters, simply because it is just plain fun.

Twisted Timbers would wind up being Gavin's 150th, and Taylor realized that riding RMCs in cooler weather is much nicer than 100F. I still LOVE the roll into the first drop.

We would take a small break, and I grabbed one of my favorite pictures I've ever taken. Twisted Timbers just looks so nice with the blossoms. After our break, we would go ride the better Grizzly (sorry CGA). I love the airtime Grizzly has, and the Gravity Group retrack has made the ride so much better.

Twisted Timbers
We would go by the Eiffel Tower, hoping to go up to the observation deck. We would wait for about 20 minutes, before the greeter informed us that it would not reopen for the day. We checked out the gift shops on international street before heading over to ride Dominator.

Dominator is my favorite floorless, and its not just because it's an ex-Geauga Lake coaster. The ride has one of the largest vertical loops out there, and the layout is really fun. After Dominator, we went to Backlot Stunt Coaster to wrap up riding all (operating) coasters at KD. Gavin and I would go ride Pantherian one more time, while Taylor would go ride Reptilian.

After the park closed for the day at 6, we went back to the hotel for the night. While getting dinner at Waffle Houe, we would devise a plan for Tuesday morning. Our plan for the next day was going to be simple: Eiffel Tower, Panterian, Twimbers, and Grizzly.

Dominator Loop
Tuesday morning we would rope drop the Eiffel Tower, and we got lucky that they were using East Elevator, since it goes to the upper level. The view from the top is amazing, you can see the whole park from up there, and for miles around. We got our rerides in, featuring West. By 1pm we were on our way.

Visiting Kings Dominion again was an enjoyable experience. It is my favorite park in the chain, and for good reason. The atmosphere is amazing, their International Street out classes Kings Islands, the food is better, and the employees are so friendly. We had so many ask about our shirts/travels, and I have never experienced that anywhere else. When I say Kings Dominion is a park that I would seriously consider working at, I mean it. With Kings Dominion being the park to end our trip, I think it was a better ending then the original plan of Dollywood. I cannot wait to go back to Kings Dominion.
