Growing up studying the Cedar Fair park collection, I always forgot about California's Great America. It's the sister park of Six Flags Great America, being located in San Jose, California. I always thought I would never get a chance to visit since it was so far away. Jumping ahead to 2025, a rather strong rumor went around stating that CGA would close for good at the end of the 2025 season. There was some evidence, but ultimately Six Flags America would be the park to close in 2025.
My first visit was in August 2025, during a trip to San Francisco. My mom, brother and I spent 1.5 days at the park, and I fell in love with this park. It has charm of a smaller park, and I could tell it had potential, but knowing it was doomed to close by the end of the decade made me sad. We took the opprotunity to ride as many of the rides as possible, since most of the rides have little chance of being relocated.
California's Great America is a fun little park. I am glad I got the opprotunities to visit when I did, and as much as this park doesn't deserve to close, at least I knew with some time to make visits back to the park.
