Boston, Massachusetts

June 8th-10th, 2026

After a solid 1.5 days at Six Flags New England, and Canobie Lake Park, we would travel into Boston to see its many sights and sounds. Neither Nathan nor I had ever been to Boston, and we were very excited to see some of its historic sites that date back to the American Revolution.

Boston Day One

June 8th, 2026

After a long day at Canobie Lake Park, we would make the hour drive to our hotel in Boston, to meet up with Abhi. The drive into Boston was smooth, since it was the late afternoon. Once we met up with Abhi at the hotel, we decided to go into the city and get dinner.

We took the subway into the city center, and we got off at State Street Station. Walking up to the street, you are let out at the site of the Boston massacre. I found it very interesting, but thats what happens over 250+ years of development.

The building that the station was built under is the Old State House, which was a meeting point during the Revolution. It was closed for the day when we got there, so we decided we would visit the next day.

Mom and Abhi decided to take us to The Ye Olde Union Oyster House for dinner. The restaurant originally opened in 1826, and was celebrating its 200th anniversary. The Ye Olde Union Oyster House is also the oldest continuously operating restaurant in the United States.

If you go inside, you will find its like a musuem of American history, and an active establishment. The number of famous and important people who have dined here is quite high, which makes sense for its age.

The restaurant was good, and also very interesting. We did indeed have some oysters, along with trying the exclusive Sam Adams brew that they serve. The food was also really good. After dinner, we got desert at a nearby bakery, and it was very good. Once we got our desert, we went to the hotel for the night.

Boston Day Two

June 9th, 2026

We slept in the next day, while Abhi had to go to work. We had planned a food tour of Boston that was to start at noon. But before we went on the tour, we decided to visit some historic sites before heading to our meeting spot.

We took the subway back into the city center, and we went to visit the Old South Meeting House before our food tour. Seeing such an old building that was originally built a church was very cool. We spent a few minutes here before leaving for the tour.

The food tour itself was very good. We went to several restaurant around the north end of the city. Everything we tried was super good, and I would have gone back to several if we had time during our trip.

After a great food tour around Boston, we decided to go visit the Greenway Carousel. We were told by our tourguide that the animals on the carousel were drawn by school children, and were all native to the New England area. I rode on a lobster, but I found the owl was really pretty.

We toured the Old State House before they closed up for the day. Afterwards, we made the choice to take the rental car back, since we realized we wouldn't need it the rest of the trip, and headed out to the airport to take it back.

Before we went to the airport, we went to Bunker Hill to see the monument there. While we couldn't go up into the monument since it was closed Tuesdays, we took the time to walk around and see the site where the battle took place over 250 years ago.

The drive from Bunker Hill to the airport took about 30 minutes, and we realized we could take the blue line from the airport to State Street. While we were on the subway, we decided we should get dinner since it was getting late.

Ultimately we decided to head over to Chinatown, making a connection at State Street. We hadn't decided on where, but we knew we wanted dinner there.

Chinatown was very interesting to walk through and experience. We walked by many restaurants and shops, and it was very lively. We didn't know where we wanted to go for dinner, and we needed to figure out what to do for dinner. We eventaully walked by a restaurant called Fuchunju, which had a cage of ranbow buns being served to a table. We decided right then and there we wanted to try the place for dinner, since it eas super busy.

We ordered a few dishes, including Fried Rice, the buns, and a noodle dish. Everything was very good, and I couldn't complain about any of it. I really liked the buns, and I still think about them. After dinner, we took the train back to the hotel, and we all agreed that the day was very successful.

Boston Day Three

June 10th, 2026

Waking up Wednesday Morning, Nathan and I had to head home to Cleveland. Our flight was at 1pm, so we had to be at the airport by 11:30am. We made it with plenty of time, and the flight home was very smooth.

The neat part of traveling around the world is that I noticed regional varients of widespread products. For example, depending on where you are in the United States, Dr. Pepper can be bottled by Coca Cola, Pepsi, or Dr. Pepper themselves. Cleveland, and most of Ohio, has Dr. Pepper bottled by Pepsi (right). Boston, on the other hand, sells Coca Cola bottled Dr. Pepper (left).

While I sat bored at Boston Logan International Airport, I realized I had a rare opprotunity to do a side by side comparison of the two different Peppers. So I bought a bottle at the airport, and played the waiting game. On the way home from the airport, I would stop at a store to get a Pepsi-bottled Dr. Pepper.

Once I got home, I put both bottles in the fridge to cool off. After an hour, I pulled both out and did a taste-test with Dad and Steph. We agreed that we preferred the Coca-Cola bottled version, since it had a better balance of flavor and carbonation.

Boston is a very enjoyable city to visit. Parts of it reminded me of Europe, and other parts reminded me of San Francisco. I enjoyed taking the train around the city, and seeing the many historic sites around the city. I also enjoyed the food I tried during the food tour, it was all so good. There is a lot of culture in Boston that I didn't quite realize existed before visiting. I wish I had a few more days, probably two, to see more of the historic sites and see just other parts of Boston.
