Put-in-Bay Trips

Put-In-Bay is a small island located in Lake Erie. It is about 20 minutes by boat from Port Clinton or Sandusky Ohio. I have been a few times over the years, the first being in 2012, and most recently in September 2025 with my friend Caroline.

My September 9th, 2025 trip to Put-In-Bay was my first time taking the Jet Express to the island. I took the 10am ferry with my neighbor, and friend, Caroline. We had a smooth time getting to the island, and I joked how she was probably the youngest person on the boat (she wasn't, there was a family with young kids on board).

We went right to the carousel after getting to the island, only to learn it was closed for the season. Afterward we went to Perry's Monument, and went to the top. It was rather interesting seeing how high off the ground we were, and how far we could see (over 40 miles!) I commented how we could see Cedar Point from so far away, making out TT2, Millennium Force, and Steel Vengeance.

After Perry's Monument, we went to get lunch at GOAT, a restaurant by Perry's Cave. I had a Reuben Sandwich, Caroline had Caesar Salad with Shrimp. Afterward we did the 2pm Perry's Cave Tour, and we had a blast in the cave. It was nice and cool, and according to the people at the cave, it maintains a temperature of around 50°F. We got dripped on, but the cave was cool (figuratively and literally).

We began to walk back to town after the tour, and stopped for Ice Cream on the way back. It was nice, and the town was quiet as it was the off season. If you've never been to the town itself, its a cute place that feels very coastal, yet its almost all bars and gift shops. They have a post office, but its inconvienent to get to if you're from it and walking. I mailed a post card to my dad, and it took a week to get there.
