Old Dominion Trip '25

In the summer of '25, I would go to take a 4 day trip with Taylor and Graham, from June 23rd, through June 26th, 2025. This trip is what I would later call the Old Dominion trip, as it largely took place in Virginia, and a detour to Six Flags America in Maryland. The name of course ties into the regions historical nature, with its ties to the Civil and Revolutionary wars. The first stop of our trip was Kings Dominion, the second was Busch Gardens Williamsburg, and we wrapped up the trip with Six Flags America. For more information on that, check out each park's respective page.

We left around 3pm on June 23rd, headed for Virginia. We had to make a few stops before leavng Ohio, but we made decent time. We had a rather uneventful drive through Pennsylvania, seeing the beautiful mountain views as the sun set, until we hit Washington DC. I am not joking, the 6-8 lane highway became one lane for roadwork, in DC! This added an hour to our drive, however we did make a nice stop at a Sheetz at 11pm before continuing on to Virginia. We wouldn't get in until 1am.

We learned why I should never be trusted with booking an AirB&B. I picked one in the middle of the woods on a farm, and we didn't even know where to go to get to it. We were greeted by the farm's dogs, who were very friendly. They made us know we were in the right place, and not in the wrong spot. After stumbling around in the dark, we figured it out and went to bed, tired, but in Virginia.

The next morning we woke up, had breakfast, then went to Kings Dominion. We had a wonderful time there, albiet it was hot. The next day we went to Busch Gardens Williamsburg, and after some minor travel delays, would have a wonderful time at the park. Afterwards, we would go to Cookout for dinner, and spend some time there discussing our day. This was the first time for both Taylor and Graham at Cookout.

Thursday we woke up and headed back for Six Flags America, and spend about 3 hours there. The heat caused us to leave early, and we got WaWa before heading back to Sandusky. On the way back, we did stop in Breezewood Pennsylvania, the famous interchange between Interstate 70 and Interstate 76. If you don't know, its famous for representing America in one image online. After stopping, I would set the autocruise to 70mph and would drive back without any other stops, getting to Sandusky by midnight.

This trip was very enjoyable, and Taylor and Graham were very fun to travel with. For more indepth descriptions of the parks, click the links below and take a look.
